Latest News

The swimming pool at Kingsway Leisure Centre will open on Monday 21st September. We will only be running a limited timetable of programmes and activities initially, with Adult Lane Swimming, Junior Lane Swimming (8-15 years) and Family Swim (members & non-members) available to book online/via telephone. As we all begin to adjust to the ‘new normal’, we will continually review our services and look to expand programme/activities when it is safe to do so. The timetable is available to view online -

Things are going to be a little different and we understand this will take some getting used to. To help you prepare for your visit, we have put together some guidelines that cover your new customer journey, including pre-booking and participant numbers, social distancing in the swimming pool and changing facilities. Please take a look at the guidelines for Adult Lane Swimming below. For full details/guidelines for each of our swimming sessions, please visit the website -

A space (maximum 16 per session) will need to be pre-booked via the online booking system ( or by calling 0151 495 2200

Swimming sessions are limited to 50 minutes – this includes the use of the changing facilities.

Customers will be able to pre-book one session per day

Please arrive on time for your session – entrance to the swimming pool will close 5 minutes after the session begins. Please try and avoid arriving early for your session (more than 10 minutes), to ensure we maintain safe social distancing.

When you arrive, please give your name at the reception desk

Please follow the one-way system operating within the leisure centre and adhere to social distancing guidelines

Changing Rooms

The Female and Male wet changing facilities will be open for lane swimming customers. If you require use of the Disabled/Family changing facilities, please notify a member of staff at the time of booking.

Please arrive ‘beach ready’ – with your swimming costume/shorts on under your clothes. This will ensure you get the most out of your time in the pool and minimises time spent in the changing rooms.

Please change at a designated ‘changing space’ (2 metre markers are located within each changing area), or within a changing cubicle.

Showers will be available – please be aware of social distancing markers

Swimmers will be able to store personal belongings in a locker – please only use a locker marked with a green tick.

Toilets will be available within the wet changing areas.

Swimming Pool

Please follow the one-way system on poolside – arrows clearly show the direction of travel

Entry is via the shallow end of the pool – please enter via the pool steps (closest to the changing facilities) wherever possible to avoid passing the Lifeguard on poolside. If this is not possible, please walk behind the Lifeguard and enter the pool as quickly and as safely as possible.

The swimming pool will be split into double width lanes - SLOW, MEDIUM and FAST. Please consider the speed of other swimmers in the pool and pick a lane accordingly

A ‘FLEXI’ lane will also be available

Please do not overtake whilst swimming.

Please wait at the corner of the lane if a faster swimmer wants to pass. If you are regularly being passed, please consider moving to another lane.

Please follow the lane direction signs (clockwise), to ensure social distancing.

While static in the water, please adhere to social distancing guidance in relation to other pool users and those on poolside

When travelling through the water, please aim to keep as much distance as possible from other swimmers.

Please try and keep ‘rest’ breaks to a minimum and keep to the corner of your lane.

Please exit via the deep end the pool, via the pool steps (closest to the changing facilities) wherever possible.

Leaving the Building

We kindly ask that customers exit the pool and changing facilities before the end of the 50 minute session – this ensures the changing facilities can be thoroughly cleaned/sanitised.

The Leisure Attendant on duty will blow the whistle 5 minutes before the end of the session and ask all remaining swimmers to exit the pool.

Please follow the one-way system and exit via the main entrance doors. A member of staff will be on hand to direct you if needed.
