Covid Swimming Guidelines

Bookings 

  • Sessions are available to members and PAYG customers (normal admission fees apply) 

Arrival 

  • Please try and avoid arriving early for your session (more than 10 minutes), to ensure we maintain safe social distancing.
  • Face coverings are to be worn on entry to the building, in reception areas and whilst travelling to/from your chosen activity 
  • Please sanitise your hands on arrival – a hand dispenser is located at the main entrance 
  • When you arrive, please register your attendance at the reception desk. Contactless payment facilities are available.
  • Please follow the one-way system operating within the leisure centre and adhere to social distancing guidelines 

Changing Rooms 

  • The Female/Male wet changing facilities will be open for Adult Lane Swimming and General Swim sessions. If you require use of the Disabled/Family changing facilities, please notify a member of staff at the time of booking.
  • The Family/Disabled changing facilities will be open for ‘Splash & Play’ and Family Swim (small pool) sessions. 
  • Please arrive ‘swim ready’ – with your swimming costume/shorts on under your clothes. This will ensure you get the most out of your time in the pool and minimises time spent in the changing rooms.
  • Please change at a designated ‘changing space’ (2 metre markers are located within each changing area), or within a changing cubicle.
  • Showers will not be available for Family Swim (main pool) customers, to avoid overcrowding in the Male/Female wet changing facilities and to ensure all customers exit the building within the 50 minute session time
  • Swimmers will be able to store personal belongings in a locker – please only use a locker marked with a green tick.
  • Toilets will be available within the wet changing areas.
  • We advise all customers to bring their own baby changing mat if needed. 

Swimming Pool 

Adult Lane Swimming 

  • Please follow the one-way system on poolside – arrows clearly show the direction of travel
  • Entry is via the shallow end of the pool – please enter via the pool steps (closest to the changing facilities) wherever possible to avoid passing the Lifeguard on poolside. If this is not possible, please walk behind the Lifeguard and enter the pool as quickly and as safely as possible.
  • The swimming pool will be split into double width lanes – SLOW, MEDIUM and FAST. Please consider the speed of other swimmers in the pool and pick a lane accordingly
  • Please do not overtake whilst swimming. Please wait at the corner of the lane if a faster swimmer wants to pass. If you are regularly being passed, please consider moving to another lane.
  • Please follow the lane direction signs (clockwise), to ensure social distancing.
  • While static in the water, please adhere to social distancing guidance in relation to other pool users and those on poolside
  • When travelling through the water, please aim to keep as much distance as possible from other swimmers.
  • Please try and keep ‘rest’ breaks to a minimum and keep to the corner of your lane.
  • Please exit via the deep end the pool, via the pool steps (closest to the changing facilities) wherever possible.

General Swim

  • Please follow the one-way system on poolside – arrows clearly show the direction of travel
  • Entry is via the shallow end of the pool – please enter via the pool steps (closest to the changing facilities) wherever possible to avoid passing the Lifeguard on poolside. If this is not possible, please walk behind the Lifeguard and enter the pool as quickly and as safely as possible.
  • While static in the water, please adhere to social distancing guidance in relation to other pool users and those on poolside
  • When travelling through the water, please aim to keep as much distance as possible from other swimmers.
  • There will be a maximum 8 ‘bubbles’ per session

‘Splash & Play’ / Family Swim

  • There will be a maximum of 4 ‘bubbles’ per session.
  • Please adhere to social distancing guidance in relation to other pool users and those on poolside
  • For ‘Splash & Play’ sessions, each bubble will be provided with a small number of toys. Please only use the toys within your allocated bag – the items are the same for each bubble. Participants are welcome to bring along small inflatables/ toys (e.g. rubber ring) to be enjoyed responsibly by members of their bubble. However, the Lifeguard team have the right to refuse the use of certain items of equipment if they are considered unsuitable or are not being used safely.
  • The Leisure Attendant on duty will ask all remaining swimmer to exit the pool at the end of the 45 minute session. You will then have 15 minutes to use the changing facilities before you leave. 

Leaving the Building 

  • We kindly ask that customers exit the pool and changing facilities by the session end time – this ensures the changing facilities can be thoroughly cleaned/sanitised and avoids delays. 
  • The Leisure Attendant on duty will ask any remaining swimmers to exit the pool before the end of the session, to ensure all customers have time to change and exit the building within the allocated session time. 
  • Please follow the one-way system and exit via the main entrance doors. A member of staff will be on hand to direct you if needed.

We ask that all customers read and follow the COVID guidelines, to ensure we can all continue to enjoy the swimming pool safely.
